Oil on Oily Skins?

I hear the screams in the hills....Noooooo...!

Yes! Most certainly yes.  But...but...Butts (pun fully intended) aside...do I mean backside?

Seriously though. All oils are not equal.  We know this from what oils we now understand are GOOD to consume; why would applying them to our skins, be different?  The short answer is - its not different.  All oils are not created equal or maybe some are more equal than others.

The easiest way to think about it is, this (not very scientifically explained but easier to understand).  When the skin is dry it tries to resolve this in a number of ways and for now we will stick with oils.  It produces oil.  Why?  First because oil can be moisterising and it can also prevent further moisture being lost by creating an occlusive layer between the skin and its environment.  Think of oil as that slightly leaky raincoat.

The important thing to know is OIL is good for ALL skins.  Knowing what oil to use for YOUR skin is a little different.  Just as every food has different benefits so too different oils have different impact on the skin.  Some are light and absorb fast.  Some are heavy and take a while to absorb.  Some feel dry (WHAT!?) ...yes dry.   Some will saturate your skin in moisture.

Now that I have lead you to the edge of the rabbit hole.  Happy hunting for your perfect oil.  Links to some research below. (there are too many so only two here)
